The Fly [Blu-ray] [1958]

Watch for the Fly!!!!
The Original Fly is a better film than the remake. It is better composed, better photographed with not a lot of repulsive blood and gore scenes.Vincent Price is a delight as always. David Hedison who is the star and later the Captain in Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea( tv series) provides a balanced portrayal of the mad scientist, with a heart. His constant loving, devoted and long-suffering wife, played by Patricia Owens provides a remarkable performance establishing quite a range of acting. This film is more a suspense thriller(like an Alfred Hitchcock film of the same period) rather than a horror film although I hid under the covers when I saw it at age 10. I just watched it with my 24 year old son and he found it very entertaining and a tale told well.

Great Old School Stuff and Via Prime!
Another classic from my Vailsburg days and, IMO, the only version worth watching. David Hedison (SiGh). It still creeps me out, and I just watched it again last week, to see what reminds me of brushes underneath the "nose" wiggling around and the slurping of the milk. Also still creepy: her Scream after taking off his cover followed by his seeing her and her and her and her and her...I grew up watching all this stuff and STILL love watching them.

Classic, historical
It's a classic. What else is there to say?Of course it's dated.... us movie nerds today can pick this thing apart... but, for the times, this movie was quite horrifying. Compare it to other movies of the time.If you are a horror-fan/nerd/buff you need to see this just to put it in your memory banks for later discussion.

Still the first and best of The Fly movies
Unappreciated classic, has lost its bite a bit with everyone knowing what the big reveal is after David Cronenberg's equally effective remake. Based faithfully on the French short story, the film builds up suspense about what has happened to the scientist, until the scary surprise. The ending remains effective and chilling.Amazon's streamed version is clear enough, up to DVD quality standards.

The Fly
I think movies and TV shows pretty much speak for themselves. If you are searching for this movie/show, you must be considering buying it. I purchased this for my electronic library because I did not feel the need to have the media. I am very happy with the fact that I can go to my library from my phone or tablet whenever I want to and watch this. It is also handy to be able to access it on my home theatre system you finish one and then go to the next; it avoids having to run up and down the stairs switching out DVD’s .

Great B movie
If you want to see a great “B” movie and have some laughs rent this. My Grandson and I laughed all the way through! Good for a Saturday night with popcorn, family, and friends!

The Fly is a fun movie to rewatch.
Great old classic. Scared the heck out of me as a kid, but a well done sci-fi for its era.... Still worth watching today. Might disturb young children. Stars Vincent Price but he is not scary or evil in this movie. I am enjoying going around the house saying in a squeaky voice, Help Me... Lol

He thought it was pretty funny - what was scary in 1958 is absurd ...
Watched this with our 25 year old grandson. He thought it was pretty funny - what was scary in 1958 is absurd today. Flashing neon lights in the lab, etc. But, he enjoyed it and I didn't have to be concerned about language or sex. Brought back memories. The newer "The Fly" is not as good.
