Love this book!
I absolutely love this book!I love the simplistic instructions and descriptions that are located in the beginning of the book, since there were some ingredients for recipes that I was a bit confused about (never hearing of some things). But the ingredients were not hard for me to find as most were found in my local grocery store or in my local health food store. The ingredients also were not very expensive. One thing that may get expensive is the use of dried fruits and such, but if you have a food dehydrator then save money and dry them yourself! In the back of this book there is a list not only of the resources used for this book, but also of recommendations for other books to read, as well as websites. Love that this is there! I have checked a few out and so far I find them really helpful and some are even fascinating.I am a college student who struggles with finding tasty, healthy food that I can afford. While for many recipes you need a dehydrator or maybe a food processor or blender, which these items can be pricey if you do not already own them, but the recipes themselves are not expensive if you take into consideration of how many servings are made and so on. Over the last two years I have saved up for, and gotten as holiday gifts, the tools/appliances needed in this book so there were no extra expenses for me. But for people who don't already own some of these tools may have some trouble with a few of the recipes in this book. But there are still plenty of great recipes that do not involve expensive appliances also.I read some reviews who dislike the fact that there are no images of the finished recipe product. I was concerned about this as well but the recipes are so very specific in the instructions and in the ingredient list, and the beginning of the book explains the author's personal definitions of the terms she uses so we know what she means in her instructions. So basically I am saying that it didn't turn out to be an issue of mine. These recipes really don't need step-by-step photos or finished product photos. I am a beginner with raw foods and "cooking" and as long as you pay attention to the instructions your will do very well. Also, the pages are in color and the colors are vibrant. I love the look of each page!I think this book deserves 5 stars, most definitely. Especially for the price.

New to this movement....this book is a great starting place
I need to enter a disclaimer, I am not a vegan and I don't intend on becoming one. As I age, I realize the importance of eating better. My body gives me clues that what I induldged in as a child I can no longer do. That being said, I have always been interested and intimated with the raw movement. I mean I eat salads, drink smoothies and drink juices, but I was trying to wrap my mind around raw soups? and entrees? This little book offered me a way to start eating raw foods with snacks!!! This is great for me, because I am a Junk food junkie, and this book has given me an chance to snack on nuts, dates, figs and rasins. Yes, I can't make many of the dishes becasue a dehydrater isneed. So what did was put little sticks on the receipes I can make. I enjoy the pecan and prune poppers. I have also made the little pecan and fig balls. I am looking into getting a dehydrate soon, but this little book is a God send. I will not one think I use Brown rice syrup in instead of the honey or agave in alot of the receips. I mean I like agave...but brown rice syrup...for me is a little less sweet and when I am using raisins, coconuts.... well you get my drift. I will reviste this reveiw once I have made some more receipes.

I don't use it as often as I wished I did
There are many raw snack foods listed along with their health benefits. And, of course, organic is recommended whenever possible. The chapters lay out like this: Raw Snack Basics; Raw Snack Pantry & Kitchen Equipment Essentials; Raw Snack Prep 101: Learning How to "Uncook"; Super-Satisfying Raw Nut Milks, Shakes, Smoothies, and Frozen Fruit Creams; Fit And Fabulous Fruit And Vegetable Juices; The Snacks That Keep You Going: Energizer Bars, Balls, And Bites; Powerhouse Nut, Seed, And Fruit Blends; Raw Cereals And Delectable Fruit Parfaits; Vegetable Jolt: Crispy Chips, Zippy Dips, And Scrumptious Spreads; Chillin' Fresh, Cold Fruit And Vegetable Soups; Raw Confections: No-Guilt, Nutrient-Packed Candy and Cookies; Suggested Reading; Resources; Index. Doesn't that sound muy interesante?Sometimes, many of the ingredients...including nuts and seeds are not reasonably priced. Also, the energy required to run a dehydrator with no heat so that you don't destroy enzymes can be excessive.I will keep the book and revisit it...there is a lot to learn from it. Even if you're not a vegetarian, or a vegan or a "raw foodie" (what DO you call that??), you can still adapt in small ways to improve the benefit from the foods you eat.

Easy, awesome recipes with normal ingredients
I'm very impressed with Raw Energy. I've been looking for ways to add more raw food to my diet, but not necessarily at dinner. And I don't have time, nor the organization, for raw food cookbooks that make you start an entree 3-5 days ahead of time to sprout, soak and dehydrate the creation. This book focuses on snacks.I like that most recipes use ingredients I already have around the house. There are a few with more exotic ingredients like spirulina powder, but these are easy to skip over if you don't wish to buy the ingredient. Each recipe is fairly simple and straight forward. Most use a blender or food processor, a few use a dehydrator (but if you're into raw food, you probably already have these anyhow). There are lots of recipes that omit frequently allergic ingredients such as dairy, egg or gluten so I can make snacks for my friend with food allergies.I just made Cashew Maple Oatmeal Squares and they taste just like an out-of-the-oven oatmeal cookie, but cold. There's also recipes for breakfast cereals, "milk"shakes and smoothies, dips, trail mixes and lots of desserts. This book is going to be getting a lot of use at my house.

I like it
The book is very nicely done. I have not tryied the recipes, but I am sure I will soon. The only reason I do not give the 4 stars is because they should have printed the actual photos of each recipe instead of the raw ingredients in each page, they already spent money in printing all in colour, why not to have the photos?
