Kraken Hydra 5000 WSRU Light

I purchased a Kraken 5000, on receiving it, tested the unit and main lamp failed. I reached out to the Amazon support team via Chat, they were really helpful and helped me trouble shoot however unfortunately the item did have a technical issue.Amazon put me in touch with the team at Kraken and to say their service and follow up was impressive is an understatement. Super fast, super helpful and issue completely resolved in under 24 hours. Thank you Kraken team, your products rock and so do you guys.Aside from my positive view of Krakens follow up service I used the light on a number of dives now and it is a sensational unit. I am quite new to CRI ratings for video lights however can say it produces a really powerful and bright light perfect for go-pro type filming at 20+ metres deep, while having a very warm and natural feel. Other video lights I have used are too cold for underwter use where as the Kraken 5000+ is extremely natural. Will look at Kraken for all future lighting needs. Thanks again Kraken.adamwalters.com

This review is for the newer 5000+ version of these lights. I did not purchase these on Amazon, I purchased them from another high quality national shop.The head unit failed on both lights between 6 and 12 hours of operation, rendering them useless on a very special liveaboard dive trip.I gave them two stars because when they did work, they were beautiful lights, no rings, shadows or artifacts in the beam at all, very nice white soft light. I also can say they are very nicely designed and the units themselves appear to be of high quality. I did note that they put out a serious amount of heat and you can feel it during the dive.In the end, if you can't trust your lights on a major trip, the best lights in the world are as good as the worst. I sent them back and got a full store credit, I'm very appreciative of the shop for doing this.Perhaps they should consider a burn-in period for their electronics.....two of two failing is not a good sign.

truly an outstanding product. I bought two 5000 WSRU with remote when they first launched. I have used them on many dives since. it took a few attempts to get accustomed to the remote, but once I did, flawless. they work incredibly well in both day and night (absolutely LOVE the ultra violet). the light quality is excellent and the light options can't be beat, especially for the money. coming from light and motion equivalent (so regret spending money on them) and a couple of other major brands, I can honestly say they don't compete all! the 5000's SMOKE any lights with similar output in EVERY way. If your looking for dive lights don't make the same mistakes I did and listen to the shops. they'll push the big brand products with large margins. also don't start small. buy one of these, then save up and buy the second one with remote. the only regret you'll have is not buying two of them sooner.

I use my 5k torch nearly every night and have for the last 2 years. We have a resort and were looking for lights to help us shoot video.The lights turned out to be much more versatile then just a video lights. Our guests use them for their compact cameras too.The light quality seems much brighter then a 5k and the torch comes with red which helps your camera to focus and blue for fluro photography !Batteries are also inexpensive so having backup power won’t break you.Easy to operate and function with the remote device using fiber optic.These are a great torch for travel too.I own several of these now and have been very happy.

Got over 400 dives with a pair of the Kraken 5000s. No issues. Great for wide angle and macro. They are compact but provide plenty of light. Double o-ring is a nice feature. With my old lights, if I couldnt charge them between dives they would run out of power by dive #2. With these I just swap out batteries in between dives. In fact, me and my buddies are all using Kraken lights now.
