Very high quality!
Any home chef (or even professionals for that matter) should be pleased and proud to own this pan. It is definitely heavy-duty, but not too heavy. I would definitely recommend spending the few extra bucks and buy the pre-seasoned model. This is a great overall chefs quality pan. I use it for pretty much everything, including searing and cooking steaks to stir-fry. In fact, I liked it so much that we bought three more for our sons (two of whom are chefs) and they love them as well. One of our boys had a similar but lesser quality pan that wound up warping from the high heat. I don't see that happening with this high-quality carbon steel pan. I hope you love it as much as I do. Happy cooking...

Cast iron for glass cooktop
Awesome pan. Cast iron cooking on a glass cooktop. Makes great steaks.

Not for me. O wait please read.
I hate this pan. Things stick to it terribly. I got a friend that likes them but I absolutely despise this thing. Was told to reseason. Did that twice with the same exact result. Also it does no seem to set flat.UPDATE. This company saw my review. They reached out and made it right without me even asking. I thought I was too late for a refund because it was more than 30 days. You got nothing to loose. Outstanding!

Great pan, horribly seasoned
I am a fan of the Made In product line. Well made and made to last. I have a 10" version of this fry pan that I have seasoned myself, and it works so well that it has relegated my non-stick pans to the back of the cabinet.Looking for a larger version, i ordered the pre-seasoned 12" model. The pan quality is great but the seasoning surface was rough, felt like a poor quality cast iron pan, and was definitely not non-stick. After 6 months of using the pan and unsuccessfully trying to build up the non-stick surface I was used to, I reached out to the company to see what the problem was.Their response was quick and I am now in the process of following their directions to strip the surface down to the steel and start from scratch.Save yourself the trouble and go for the unseasoned version.

Great for searing, but not particularly nonstick.
Quite thin and lightweight compared to my Matfer CS, doesn't sear real evenly. Has more of a textured surface which is great for searing vegies and chicken breasts, but I've never been able to make it nonstick (as I could with my Matfer pans)

Lighter than cast iron
I've migrated to ceramics for Teflon for health reasons and still use ceramic pans for eggs and light cooking. I got the carbon steel mostly for searing meats. Pans provides safe nice even cooking and without worry of scratching. Same benefits of cast iron with about half of the weight. Super high quality.

Grips food and food particles
This is my second MadeIn pan. I love the first one which is an unseasoned pan that was made in France. Bought this one for our winter house and figured I would try the seasoned one. It is night and day. I love the French made unseasoned pan, but this is terrible. Cooked in it twice, nothing challenging, but everything sticks to it with stubbornness I've never seen on any pan including a cast iron. Before I used it the first time I seasoned it even though it's not required but recommended. I washed it (no soap!) and then re-seasoned it and it was no better, maybe even a little worse. Should have just bought another unseasoned pan, this one is made in Sweden. Disappointed.Heat distribution is also uneven.UPDATE - with use and further seasoning it has gotten somewhat better. The folks at made in responded to my review and were helpful in resolving my issues.
